Criteria for Employment as a Writer
We receive hundreds of applications from around the world to contract with us as freelance writers. However, we accept only those candidates who are able to satisfy our stringent qualifications. First, the applicant is required to pass several tests to ensure they are proficient in the written English language, prove the ability to access and properly use peer-reviewed literature, and to write in the most commonly used writing formats, including APA, MLA, Harvard, Chicago, and Turabian. Part of the process also involves the applicant's completing a writing sample within a set time-frame. Not only does the sample demonstrate the writer’s ability to research and to write on a given topic, but to do so proficiently within a limited amount of time. Our writers must be able to complete orders quickly, since some of our customers come to us with an emergency order to be completed within hours of the posting. In addition, our writers have to be knowledgeable in a wide range of topics.
Ongoing Assessment of Writers’ Abilities and Progress
We strongly believe in quality control. Part of that includes an ongoing assessment of our writers’ abilities and progress. Our Writers’ Evaluation Department randomly selects pages from recent orders to examine, on a regular basis. In addition, our writers are given tests each month to re-evaluate their knowledge of English, writing and formatting skills. Furthermore, we encourage our customers to rate their writers and to leave comments for our writing team as well as for future customers. Moreover, our writers are rated based on a number of criteria.
Do We Keep Updated with the Writers’ Achievements?
We utilize a system of Quality Control and Writers' Rating to monitor and rate a writer's performance. Our rating system includes several indicators, including:
A professional editor's assessment of general writing skills based on 3 randomly selected papers completed during the previous two weeks.
The average rating provided by customers within a specified discipline.
Disciplinary points based on lateness, revisions, and disputes.
Percentage of returning customers for that writer.
Writer's preference in disciplines.
The advantage in using this flexible system for Quality Control and Rating is that it quickly allows us to provide the most current rating for each writer. Because the system is flexible, however, the classification of a writer can fluctuate up or down. If you request a previous writer, you may be charged an additional fee if the writer's rating has increased to the advanced status. Likewise, you may find that you are not charged the usual additional fee if your requested writer has been downgraded from the advanced status. Regardless, we encourage you to request the writer who has previously proven to satisfy your writing needs.
From Where Our Writers Originate
Part of what is so wonderful about being an online freelance writer is that the writer can be located at any place with an Internet access. For that reason, we are able to employ writers world-wide. They come from many countries, but mostly from the United States, the UK, and Canada. What is important is that they are able to demonstrate strong English reading and writing skills, have access to an extensive database of peer-reviewed literature for research purposes, and are knowledgeable in a number of subject areas. Furthermore, they must understand and be able to write in a scholarly manner for all academic levels, from high school, through college and graduate levels, including Master's and PhD. Although not all of our writers are native English-speaking writers, you can certainly request that your writer is by selecting the appropriate option on the order form.
The Assignment of Orders
We use a number of criteria in determining which writer is the most suitable for your order. We consider the writer’s background, for example. On what subjects is the writer well-versed or have a degree in? How experienced is the writer? What is the writer’s overall rating in that discipline? Finally, we want to ensure that the writer is going to provide the customer with complete attention to the order, and so we view how many orders the writer currently has been assigned to him.
Can I Be Assured of the Writer's Writing Skills before He or She Starts to Work on My Assignment?
Of course, you may select the writer, yourself. For a minimal fee of $5, you can preview samples of a writer’s work. You can also submit a free inquiry, have the writers to bid on it, and then preview sample pages from them before selecting one to complete your order. These options allow you to determine the writers’ levels of proficiency before committing to one in completing your order.
